This Privacy Policy explains how Roll (“Roll,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Roll mobile app. By using Roll, you agree to this policy. Questions? Contact us at support@roll-it.app.
Account information. Either your email address and a securely stored password (never visible to us in plain text), or your phone number — depending on how you sign up — plus the username you choose.
Phone number. If you sign up with a phone number, or add one to an existing account, we store it so you can sign in with it. We also store a scrambled (hashed) version so friends who already have your number saved can find you on Roll. You can turn that off any time in Settings → Let friends find me by number, which deletes the scrambled version. Your phone number is never shown to other users.
Contacts. Roll can check which of your contacts already use Roll. This is optional and off unless you ask for it, and it works like this:
Profile photo. If you choose to set a profile photo, we store the image you pick. It is shown to other users alongside your username.
Content you create. Movies you log, rankings and scores, verdicts, written reviews and notes, tags, watchlist, custom lists, and the people you indicate you watched a movie with.
Social information. Who you follow and who follows you, likes and comments, recommendations you send, and notifications.
Moderation information. Reports you file and users you block, so we can keep Roll safe.
Automatically collected information. Limited technical data such as app version and basic diagnostics needed to operate the service.
We do not collect your precise location or payment information, and we never access your photo library — you pick a single image and only that image is uploaded.
To create and secure your account and sign you in, including sending one-time codes by text message; provide ranking, reviews, lists, recommendations, and social features; show your activity to people you follow and on leaderboards; help you find people you already know, if you choose to use contact matching; send account emails (confirmation, password reset); review reports and enforce our Community Guidelines; and maintain and improve the app.
Roll is a social app. By design, your username, profile, rankings, reviews, comments, public lists, and activity are visible to other Roll users. Don’t post anything you want to keep private in these fields. Private notes are kept separate and are not shown to other users.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account anytime in the app under Settings → Delete Account, which removes your profile, rankings, reviews, comments, lists, follows, your phone number and its scrambled version, your profile photo, and associated data. You can also stop being findable by phone number without deleting your account, in Settings → Let friends find me by number. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being purged, and we may retain limited information where required by law.
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure password storage. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
Roll is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child provided us information, email support@roll-it.app and we’ll delete it.
You may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can delete your account in-app at any time, or contact us at support@roll-it.app.
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above and communicate significant changes in the app or by email.
